The modern day Maison of Veuve Clicquot possesses one of the finest champagne vineyards, both in terms of its size and the quality of its vines. Its 390 hectares are divided between 12 of the 17 Grands Crus, and between 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus that constitute the entire Champagne region. This exceptional heritage was built up over the centuries, founded upon the parcels first established by the founder, and added to by subsequent vineyard directors. In particular, Veuve Clicquot bears the fortuitous territorial mark of Madame Clicquot.
The Vintage Rosé 2015 is a harmonious blend, with 50% Pinot Noir, which is sourced from the prestigious Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages. This provides the wine with the bold structure that is quintessentially Clicquot. The inclusion of 30% Chardonnay brings elegance and finesse, while 20% Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend with a soft fruitiness. To add depth and complexity, 13% of the blend comes from red still wine, exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown in Bouzy. This addition provides a beautiful depth of colour and a robust character.
It begins first with the aromas of fresh red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry) combined with citrus fruit fragrances (grapefruit) that match perfectly with the lightly spiced notes of cinnamon and vanilla revealed once allowed to breathe. Finally, dried fruit and brioche notes delicately add to the richness and complexity of its aromas.
