Sourced from a small selection of our favourite shiraz blocks, the grapes were both hand and machine picked before fermentation in the traditional open top vats. The wine was then matured in older, large format French oak casks. These 2,700 litre casks highlight the fruit purity whilst making sure that oak isn’t the dominant character.

Vibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing bright red fruits and confectionary spice. The palate is medium bodied with good depth of flavour yet still lively and fresh. Soft, savoury tannins and a crunchy acidity adds to the wines complexity. A wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz.

This shows real shiraz character with ripe strawberries and sweet tobacco with hints of bark and walnut. Some tile, too. Spicy. Medium-bodied with lots of juicy fruit and a delicious finish. Solid shiraz.  Date: Oct 2022; Rating: 93 Points; James Suckling

Man alive. This may well have had some help with bits 'n' pieces from the old vines. I don't know how such elegance and poise in a medium-bodied style could be made in a challenging vintage with too much rain and not enough sunshine for all but the old boys. Date: Dec 2022; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $26.00; Drink by: 2036; Rating: 94 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
