Torzi Matthews is a food and winemaking partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews. Both share a passion and firm conviction of appreciating the value of heritage in the crafting of their wines and olive produce. In 1996 they stumbled across a small, frost-pocketed hollow in the beautiful Mt McKenzie, Eden Valley and fell in love with the area for its remoteness and its diverse thin soils.
Incredibly purple. My goodness it’s so purple. Fresh blackberry and boysenberry, pepper and flowers, spice and grilled steak, and as such a young wine, just a little fresh bread dough. Medium-bodied, dense and tightly packed, dark chocolate and pepper with a meaty character, but still pure of fruit, raspberry pie and the like. Tannin has a shale-like quality, layer upon layer of them. Spicy and a saline edge on a long dry finish. Tasted: Oct 2020; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $38; Closure: Crownseal; Drink: 2021-2034+; Rated: 95 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
