Sons of Eden has a simple philosophy to produce wines with flavour and personality from vineyards of unique character within the world class Barossa region. Sons of Eden takes its name from the two partners, Winemaker Corey Ryan and Viticulturist Simon Cowham, who both learned and refined their trades in the vineyards and cellars of Eden Valley.
This wine is a blend of 20 different individual Shiraz parcels from different ages of vines as shown below, made from fruit grown from throughout the Barossa & Eden Valleys. The blend of cooler climate Eden Valley Shiraz (39%) and warmer climate Barossa Valley Shiraz (61%), combine beautifully to enhance the palate structure and aromatics.
61/39% Eden/Barossa Valleys; 10–40% whole bunches; 15 months in French hogsheads (40% new). Deeply coloured; a finely structured wine of great class as befits the vintage, the whole bunches lifting the red-fruit aromatics on the predominantly blackberry/black cherry foundations. Drink to: 2039; Price: $45.00; Date Tasted: September 2021; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 97 Points & Special Value Star & Top 100 Wines of 2021; James Halliday; Wine Companion
A blend of Eden Valley and Barossa Valley parcels in near to equal parts, with some whole bunch used in the former. This has an attractive, fragrant and spicy nose with fresh red and dark berries, plums and blueberries on offer. Complex and alluring. The palate offers very concentrated, rich and ripe darker-toned plums and a spice edge. Long, sturdy tannins build nicely into the finish. Rating: 93 Points; Nick Stock; James Suckling
