Pike Road is the second label to the famous Elk Cove Vineyards that was founded in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell.  Pike Road is the name that runs adjacent to the vineyards and deep into the Oregon Coast Range Mountains. Outside the town of Yamhill on the western edge of the Willamette Valley.

The 2021 vintage is dark with aromas of juicy plum, cherry, sassafras, and purple violets. The palate is very well-integrated with black fruit, plum skin, leather, and tart cherries leading to a pleasantly soft finish.

This medium-bodied dazzler is packing some brawny tannins to back rich flavors of red raspberries, bittersweet dark chocolate and a meaty quality similar to baked Thai chicken wings. Equally juicy aromas match blackcap raspberry jam with bursts of coriander and talc. Very difficult to beat for twenty dollars. Best Buy. Rating: 92 Points; Michael Alberty; Wine Enthusiast
