Established in 1976, Petaluma has unlocked the great potential of Riesling from the Hanlin Hill Vineyard in Clare, pioneered the Piccadilly Valley and Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills and cemented the pedigree of the Evans Vineyard in Coonawarra, South Australia.

A full flavoured, richly textured wine. White peach, nectarine and lemon curd dominate the wine. Crunchy ripe apple and grapefruit complement the creamy barrel ferment complexity with light smoky toasty notes. Lemon meringue heralds a long layered finish with soft alluring acidity. A wonderful example of the modern Australian style and a testament to the great Piccadilly Valley vineyards Petaluma planted in the early 1980’s.

A famous Australian wine from the Piccadilly Valley. The cool climate fruit was all barrel fermented with solids and then aged on lees for 10 months. It’s contributed to the intense, rich textural feel but has not compromised the fine linear extension of the palate. Peachy richness with a lemon honeydew melon lift. Just a faint hint of flinty minerality completes an excellent wine. Drink to: 2026-2035; Rating: 95 Points; Ray Jordan

An indomitable wine that consistently delivers the kaleidoscope of flavours that only the elevated, cool Piccadilly Valley can achieve. Effortless in Star Jasmine and Gardenia blooms, citron and pomelo juice. A treasure of crème fraîche smoothness with naturally elegant acidity, that trills for long moments. The power of Piccadilly is facile and yet wrapped with fine stitches of lacey phenolics and here, delicate use of new and very impressive fine oak. It’s harmonious and lifts the spirits. Drink to: 2026-2035; Rating: 95 Points; Shanteh Wale
