Grange is arguably Australia’s most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951 and clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia. Grange utilises fully-ripe, intensely-flavoured and textured Shiraz grapes. The result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the world’s great wines. The Grange style is the original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district, blending philosophy.

The 1992 Penfolds Grange is a very good Grange, it's an elegantly structured wine but it isn't regarded as a top notch Grange. The 1992 Penfolds Grange is a Grange to enjoy now and for another 5 to 10 years.

The 1992 Penfolds Grange is deep crimson in colour and smells of ripe blackcurrant/dark cheery/dark chocolate aromas. The palate is concentrated and finely balanced with dark cherry/blackberry flavours, savoury/malty oak and fine cedar tannins. The 1992 Penfolds Grange is a blend of shiraz 90% and cabernet sauvignon 10%. Fruit sourced to make the 1992 Penfolds grange was sourced from the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra and McLaren Vale wine regions and the Kalimna Vineyard which is situated in the Barossa Valley. The growing season was cool to mild with intermittent rains. The 1992 Penfolds Grange was matured in new American oak for 18 month
