The Lynn family have been residents of the Penola - Coonawarra district for over four generations, starting out as Store-Keepers and then graduating into grazing. The property on which Majella now stands was originally owned by Frank Lynn and bought by his nephew, George, in 1960 for Merino wool production. Majella now has 61ha under vine and makes some of the finest wines in Coonawarra.
The colour is vibrant deep ruby red with a crimson hue. Fresh mint, eucalyptus and spice make up the lifted nose. The palate is soft and well balanced, with blackberries and cassis flavours with supple soft tannins. A perfect pairing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
A pretty classic - still very young and needing more time to really shine. Some lovely purple fruit characters with minty nuances. "A real bargain!" Excellent value. July August 2022; Rating: 97 Points; Winestate Magazine
74/26% cabernet sauvignon/shiraz. Fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and oak, matured for a further 6 months with minimal oak contact. Juicy, spicy and fine, this isn't the bombastic and rotund performance that I recall from years gone by – the choice of fermentation vessels surely setting its expression in stone. On the floral, shaley, bouncy side of the street. Brilliant value for money. Erin Larkin
