Blackberries, raspberries and summer strawberries. Pomegranate and juniper berries. Woodsy herbs, rosemary, picked thyme and sage leaf. A touch of allspice and clove studs. Nicely integrated to showcase the plushness of shiraz and upright tannins and frame of cabernet sauvignon. It's a wine that you won't mistake for any other region and is a benchmark of a great, very affordable Coonawarra blend. Drink to: 2030; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 93 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
Long been a personal favourite as a wine which drinks beautifully, ages well, shows how good the great Aussie red blend (Cabernet Shiraz) can be and focuses on the best of Coonawarra. In addition, it is always cracking value. The blend of this vintage is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Shiraz. This is fresh and fruit forward, and utterly delicious. It does not hurt that it comes from an absolutely brilliant vintage for the region. Ridiculous value. Drink to: 2025-2035; Price: $20.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett
