Leeuwin Estate is one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district.
In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker, Robert Mondavi, first identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard as being ideal for the production of premium wine and provided early mentorship to Denis and Tricia Horgan who founded Leeuwin Estate in 1974. The initial vineyards were planted by hand over a five year period from 1975. Maintaining a team of highly skilled and dedicated winemakers, Leeuwin Estate is now under the direction of two generations of the founding family.

Deep red with a good tint of purple in the rim, the bouquet showing tobacco/cedar, nori/briar and peaty/iodine-like nuances. It's full-bodied and powerful, with lavish tannins, bright acidity and good concetration. Redcurrant and blackberry—red and black fruits both evident. A very smart and ageworthy cabernet. Date: Nov 2023; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $99.00; Drink: 2023-2042; Rating: 97 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review

Lovely colour, deep, dark and very youthful. Complex and lifted aromas of bramble, dried herbs, cassis, wild thyme, cedar and tobacco. Dark, inky and concentrated in flavour. Blackberry, briar, satsuma plum, creamy oak and spice are all at play. Layered, complex, mouth-filling and with plenty of classic Margaret River cabernet qualities. The tannins are firm, textured and shapely and the acidity has precise cut and drive. Sophisticated, multi-faceted and delicious. Date: Feb 2024; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $99.00; Drink: 2024-2039; Rating: 96 Points; Aaron Brasher; The Real Review
