Established in 1998 Hewitson winery is situated in the heart of the Barossa Valley on the historic Seppeltsfield Road and boasts some of the oldest vines in the World. Our fruit is sourced from these dry-grown, pre-Phylloxera vineyards of the Barossa Valley and also single site vineyards in Eden Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. We believe great wines are the expression of the soils they are grown in and in the seasons they grow. Through knowledge and experience we strive for balance, structure, concentration, power and breeding.
This is a delicious, juicy, succulent, and quite luscious cabernet sauvignon from the Barossa Valley. A feature is its soft suppleness, and yet there is the cabernet structure that pulls it all together. Has a slightly meaty, gamey blackcurrant mid-palate, with a lovely subtle chocolatey mocha character. For me, this is a wine that screams out for drinking in the short term. Just sits beautifully on the palate. Drink to: 2026-2032; Price: $50.00; Rating: 94 Points; Ray Jordan
The aim of the team here is "big bold and beautiful". Maturation is in older French oak barriques. The colour is an opaque maroon. The nose reveals aromas of kirsch, tobacco leaves, spices, sage, dried herbs and dark fruits. There is gentle oak integration, and the style is seamless, bright and energetic. The wine is balanced and fresh throughout, offering very good length. The gentle fade with satiny tannins finishes things. Drink to: 2026-2036; Price: $50.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett
