Hedonist wines are made using certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and winemaking practices by winemaker, Walter Clappis. The Hedonist vineyard is located in the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf lies 5km to the West. The soil is rich loam over clay with patches of underlying limestone.
If you're looking for a white wine that's laden with character, this is the wine for you. There's nothing boring about this wine. It smells and tastes of hay, peach, white pepper, brine, toasted almonds and apple crumble, and while there's something a bit wild about it all there's also something neat and well-composed. It throws all the flavours into a bag and throws the bag around, but they remain in the bag – if that makes sense. It finishes with a savoury, almost meaty, umami-laden burst. You'd expect to drink this at a fine-diner; it has that extra what-is-that something. Date Tasted: October 2026; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $30.00; Rating: 93 Points; Campbell Mattinson
A delightful example of Fiano sourced from McLaren Vale. This wine exhibits the textural qualities typical of the variety, with a nuanced combination of nutty and citrusy elements. The palate is rich, with creamy lemon meringue and vanilla, balanced by precise acidity that carries through to a long finish. A thoroughly enjoyable wine for current drinking. Drink to: 2026-2031; Price: $30.00; Rating: 92 Points; Ray Jordan
