In 1865 Thomas Hardy had the foresight to begin blending grapes from different regions, believing that the blending would enhance the different qualities of the grapes. His vision proved to be right and it has since become the inspiration for the Heritage Reserve Bin (HRB) range.
Sourced from three vineyards with an average vine age of 70 years, with 17 months in French oak. This is an abundant wine of dark-fruited depth and sleek elaboration to bottle. It's silky, full of black berries and plum, chocolate and clove, along with some meatier, smoky notes, iron and violet. It's got intensity and suppleness while maintaining keen balance, the elegantly fine tannins signing off in style. Drink to: 2033; Date Tasted: March 2024; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $154.00; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
