Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. Throughout his career, Grant has been one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons.
A classic Barossa Chardonnay with powerful aromas of peaches and cream, accented by sweet and aromatic spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and cardamom. Ripe tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango coupled with the sweet scents of fresh brioche and croissants, and a hint of double cream and fresh cultured butter. Flavours of fresh peach, pineapple and mango layered with clotted cream, spiced cinnamon buns, buttered toast and a hint of cheesy funk.
The sweet-fruited, complex and densely flavoured palate is creamy and decadent; yet finishes crisp and clean thanks to carefully balanced acidity and excellent persistence of flavour. Perfect with perfect match for Mediterranean fare – tomato-based pasta dishes, pizza, cassoulet or paella would pair beautifully.
