The vineyards of Fratelli D'ANNA are located in Tuscany. Limestone rocks, schists, granites and sandstones, the decomposition of which generates the finest minerals, all present in this region. These are precious nutrients, which are absorbed by plants and become responsible for the personality of the wine. Transferred to the grapes, they generate the characteristics that we seek: juiciness, energy, vitality and texture of tannins.

Aged in a mix of cement and old oak from mature vines in Tuscany and made without the use of most modern intervention. This wine has a character and soul that stands out and a personality that reminds me of those óld school'Italy.

It’s a little rustic in presentation, though that’s meant in a positive way. Dried cherry, liquorice, a smattering of dried herbs and new leather. It’s medium-bodied, has something of a nutty/almond flavour, cherries and red fruits, soft acidity, a light grip to grainy tannin, with a finish of good length, a little blood orange in the aftertaste.  I don’t think it needs any bottle age; it’s really good now. Date: Jan 2026; Alcohol: 13.5%; Closure: Diam; Drink: 2026-2029; Rating: 92 Points; Gary Walsh; The WineFront
