The Flametree is an Australian native tree that provides a spectacular display of flowers. However it only blooms if the conditions affecting climate, soil, frost, wind and place of planting are in harmony. Perfume, structure and elegance are the three essential elements to produce beautifully crafted and distinct wines. These are represented by the three leaves in the Flametree logo. By winning Australia's most well-known and respected wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first ever red wine, Flametree Wines quickly captured the attention of wine media, trade and consumers. A five star rating in James Halliday's definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2013 ranks Flametree Wines in the top 5% of all of Australia’s wineries.

Citrus oil, floral notes, dried pear and grapefruit aromas are well supported by subtle French oak. The palate is textured yet fine, finishing dry and savoury, this is a direct result of wild ferments with turbid juices.

There are some flinty, funky sulphides, grapefruit, creamy nutty lees, a hint of melon, powdered ginger and honeycomb. And just when you think, 'Is this all too much of a good thing?' the acidity comes flowing through, providing energy, zesty appeal, length and refreshment. A cracking wine for the price. Date: Mar 2023; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $35.00; Drink by: 2032; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; Jane Faulkner; James Halliday Wine Companion
