The Flametree is an Australian native tree that provides a spectacular display of flowers. However it only blooms if the conditions affecting climate, soil, frost, wind and place of planting are in harmony. Perfume, structure and elegance are the three essential elements to produce beautifully crafted and distinct wines. These are represented by the three leaves in the Flametree logo. By winning Australia's most well-known and respected wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first ever red wine, Flametree Wines quickly captured the attention of wine media, trade and consumers. A five star rating in James Halliday's definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2013 ranks Flametree Wines in the top 5% of all of Australia’s wineries.

Citrus oil, floral notes, dried pear and grapefruit aromas are well supported by subtle French oak. The palate is textured yet fine, finishing dry and savoury, this is a direct result of wild ferments with turbid juices.

Light, bright yellow colour, with a complex spicy, smoky, struck-flint reductive and honey-tinged bouquet, almost Chablis-like. Delicious flavour, refined and penetrating, tensioned and long-lingering. It has lemon-citrus, honey and mineral-chalky flavours in a beautifully balanced combination. Good acidity drives the long finish. An excellent wine. Astounding value. Drink to: 2021 - 2028; Price: $29.00; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; Real Review

Matured 9 months in French oak. 2020 was a warm, compact and early vintage, which, when you take into account the small berries and low yields, was responsible for wines of relative scarcity and power. Salted preserved lemon, yellow peach and brine on the nose. Even at first glance, this has all the concentration and complexity that we have become accustomed to from this label. On the palate, it is both graceful and heady, with flavour packed into every corner of the glass. Drink to: 2028; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2021; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 94 Points; Erin Larkin; James Halliday Wine Companion
