Founded in 1968, Diamond Creek is California’s first exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyard. Visionary pioneer Al Brounstein defied modern conventions and planted Bordeaux varietals on secluded Diamond Mountain.

When he began clearing the land, Al quickly discovered a jackpot of different soils. As he planted the nearly 22 acres of vines, he designated four distinct vineyards, none more than 60 feet apart: Volcanic Hill, Red Rock Terrace, Gravelly Meadow and Lake. Al was one of the first vintners in California.

Made up of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is very deep purple-black colored and features profound notions of plum preserves, blackcurrant cordial, Black Forest cake and espresso with suggestions of black tea, fertile loam, cardamom and menthol plus a waft of charcuterie. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the taut, muscular black fruit and savory layers, framed by very ripe, very firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. Tasted: Sept 19; Drink: 2021-2055; Rating: 98+ Points; Lisa Perrotti-Brown; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
