Sophia’, meaning ‘wisdom’ in Greek mythology, pays tribute to the goddess of knowledge and experience, information and understanding, a philosophy adopted by our winemakers and viticulturists when creating this wine. A refined and elegant hand-crafted Merlot dominant blend that represents both the vigneron’s art and inherent understanding of the land ensuring ‘Sophia’ is the finest expression of the terroir and the people. Darkest red. Brooding aromatically with blackcurrant, blackberry, dried red rose and cedar notes emerging. The wine exerts elegance across the palate with a pure red /black fruit core drawn long by layers of fine grained tannins.
A blend of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon grown in the Gimblett Gravels subregion. Intense, rich and complex wine with cassis, blackberry, dark chocolate, cedar, liquorice and spicy oak flavours supported by firm, ripe tannins. A serious red that promises to reward careful cellaring. Date Tasted: April 2022; Drink: 2022 to 2035; Price: $150.00; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 97 Points; Bob Campbell MW; The Real Review
