The land was first purchased by Karl Cimicky in the early 1970’s. Karl vision for the land was to establish a world renowned Barossan winery. Charles Cimicky, after having learned the trade took over the business from his father and subsequently changed the name from KARLSBERG WINES to K. CIMICKY and SON and later to CHARLES CIMICKY.

You know that there’s one thing you’re going to get with the Cimicky wines, and that’s flavour—flavour in spades. The colour here is deep, dark, blacky plum. The nose shows loads of spice and plummy chocolate. Then the palate is rich and generous, with loads of complex fruit intensity. It has had about two years in oak, where it has picked up some slightly toasty notes and that sweet vanillin complexity which suits this variety in specific vineyards through the Barossa. Above all, it delivers with a smooth, effortless, velvety palate that is most stylish. Drink to: 2026-2040; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $58.00; Rating: 95 Points; Ray Jordan

Deep crimson with a dark, youthful core. The aroma is rich and expressive, showing blackberry and plum layered with vanilla, roasted nuts, spice and well-integrated oak. Full-bodied and generous, the palate is lush and juicy, delivering ripe black fruit supported by sweet, rounded tannins. Extended oak maturation (18–26 months) brings depth and complexity, with notes of mocha, vanilla and roasted nuts unfolding through the mid-palate. A classic Barossa Shiraz that overdelivers, combining richness, structure and polished oak influence. Lush, generous and outstanding value. Drink to: 2026-2034; Rating: 95 Points; Vino Masters
