Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, who arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836.  The vineyards are situated on the flood plains of the Bremer river. Frank Potts left behind him a wonderful legacy that continues today. His sons and grandsons have operated and built up the winery, and Bleasdale is solely owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation members of the Potts family.

Wellington Road is the original name for the road that connects Langhorne Creek with the River Murray crossing town named for the Duke of Wellington. It is on this road that Bleasdale has sat since it was established in 1850. Grenache and Shiraz were originally grown in Langhorne Creek for fortified winemaking but are proving to be excellent for table wine. Nurtured from small parcels into a vibrant, plush and rewarding wine. Crimson red wine with cherry and blackberry fruits supported by nutmeg, spice, white pepper and some savoury, earthy characters. A generous, opulent palate complemented by textured chalky tannins.

Glorious GSM. Velvety and flavoursome with perfectly crafted tannin and the length to match. Red berries and blue, peppercorns and cedar, sweet spices and florals. Bass and treble, mid-tones and reverb. This is the goods. Date: Feb 2024; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $35.00; Drink by: 2032; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
