The winery was founded upon the vision and spirit of our dedicated winemaking and viticultural team, who believed Tasmania would one day be the pre-eminent region in Australia to produce cool climate wines. To this end, we search for the individual 'personalities' in every variety and vineyard, to craft wines which are unique, alluring and distinctively Tasmanian but never compromise on consistency or quality.
The Bay of Fires philosophy on Pinot Noir production is to preserve to bottle the essential characteristics of the vineyard and fruit and create the highest quality blend from sub regional Tasmania. Gentle handling of the fruit and the wine helps to achieve this, while restrained winemaking assists in developing the complexity of the final blend.
Brilliant deep purple, this wine displays complex aromas of sweet ripe red berry fruits feature with star anise, cinnamon spices with floral nuances. Although elegant and supple, the wine shows remarkable power, intensity and length on the palate. Framed by ripe, moderate tannin the graceful sweet blueberry fruit is complemented but not dominated by spice. Overall the wine has wonderful poise and balance with remarkable length of flavour as all great Pinot Noirs should.
Hand-picked from the East Coast and Derwent Valleys of Tasmania, flaunting the expected depth and hue of the colour. It throbs like a high performance car idling before the flag falls, then awesome in the way it instantly responds to the lightest of touch on the accelerator.
