The estate, managed by Philippe Ballot, who followed his father Raymond, and is working with his son Charles, boasts 12 hectares (30 acres) in all. A superb production in its own right, yielding one of the finest and most delectable illustrations that Côte de Beaune could ever offer: the supple, fruity character of great white wines such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, and the richness and delicacy of the legendary Pommard, Beaune and Volnay.

Today, along with the wine regions of Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet and, of course, Meursault, the family “heritage” has earned prestige, both in the richness of its appellation selections and in the diversity of the prime vintage “Premier Crus” it represents.

Ruby crimson in colour. Old vines but a fresh red fruit, stylish as well as charming. With an unexpected density and good structure. This is a beautiful expression with enough tannin for structure even while the acidity is quite low. Will be a delight. A slightly riper nose reflects notes of red and dark cherry, poach plum and a broader array of spice elements. The strikingly textured and refined flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension while exhibiting more minerality on the balanced finale where a touch of bitter pit fruit slowly emerges. This is lovely and understated, indeed it is very Pézerolles in style. Date: Apr 2025; Drink: 2031+; Issue: 98; Comments: Outstanding; Rating 91 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound
