Follow the length of its winding waters and gentle banks, Côte du Rhône vineyards thrive across 171 rich and varied terroirs and vineyards, all bathed in the same bountiful sun. There’s no place like Rhône! Grenache, the base variety, brings fruity flavours, warmth, and body. Syrah and Mourvèdre give the wine their spicy aromas, and a colour and structure suitable for ageing.  This collection features 3 bottles each from 4 renowned Rhône producers.

The StarDozen consists of the following:

Les Courtilles Bernard Schurr Cotes Du Rhone Villages 2015
50/50 blend of grenache and shiraz. Grown organically. Packaging is, as always immaculate. The packaging is immaculate and so too is the wine. It’s squeaky clean and laden with personality at once. Smoky-reductive notes, herb-infused red-black cherries, a trace of graphite, and both a suppleness to the palate and a crunchiness to the finish. You can sink into it, and you can chew on it. The core of fruit is good but savouriness is where it’s at. Everything here feels authentic. It’s excellent buying/drinking but then, when Fourth Wave is involved, we almost always conclude that. Closure: Screwcap; Price: $27.00; Drink: 2017-2023; Rating: 92 Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front

Mont Redon Reserve Cotes du Rhone 2015
The 2015 Côtes du Rhône Réserve Mont-Redon is about as charming and gulpable as they come. Made from 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, it’s loaded with notes of strawberries, cherries, dried flowers and garrigue, and this medium-bodied beauty is ideal for drinking over the coming 3-4 years (if not longer). Rating: 88 Points; Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

Delas Freres Cotes du Rhone St Esprit 2016
60% Syrah, 40% Grenache. Lovely rich opulent and floral, black berry and plum nose, the palate is big with well layered fruit, attractively firm but soft tannin and hints of oak, a big wine with a lovely finish. Rating: 95 Points; Decanter

Pierre Amadieu Cotes du Rhone Roulepierre Rouge 2015
The 2015 Côtes du Rhône Roulepierre offers juicy, jammy notes of ripe black cherries, licorice and pepper in a medium-bodied, pleasure-bent, balanced style. Rating: 88-90 Points; Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
