This too is very restrained though a bit of swirling quickly coaxes the ultra-spicy and very ripe nose to reveal liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, raspberry and cassis that are trimmed in a beautiful array of spice elements. There is outstanding intensity to the concentrated big-bodied flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract that confers a sappy texture to the mid-palate while also enrobing the very firm tannic spine shaping the superbly complex, powerful and massively long finish. This is a stunningly good young Richebourg with simply amazing potential that should amply repay long-term cellaring. Tasted: Jan 2021; Drink: 2045+; Issue: 81; Rating 97 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound

The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru boasts one of the most expressive aromatics from barrel, offering dark berries mixed with crushed limestone, pressed flowers and oyster shell, the fruit becoming more intense with aeration. The palate is extremely cohesive with unerring symmetry, filigreed tannins (perhaps more like a Romanée-Saint-Vivant) and immense depth endowed upon its arching, cathedral-like structure. This is a brilliant Richebourg in the making. Date Tasted: Jan 2020; Drink: 2028-2060; Rating: 96-98 Points; Neal Martin; Vinous
