La Biondina (the young blonde) stands proud as a modern Australian classic. Celebrating her 38th vintage in 2019 the young blonde continues to tantalise the wine world with a style all her own. Each season she returns, eternally young, flaunting her finesse and class as the world's premier Colombard. The mouth watering, fruit driven palate is the signature of this style. The flavours are full, juicy, cool and very long.
2019 Review: For many years this was made from 85% or more colombard, the balance sauvignon blanc. Daniel Grilli has made this from arneis, gruner veltliner and riesling, and given it bright new packaging. It's vibrant and juicy, with a strikingly long palate stretching through to the fresh aftertaste. Drink to: 2022; Price: $20.00; Date Tasted: Dec 2019; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 94 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
