Mystery Premium Museum Release McLaren Vale Shiraz 2013
Inky colour and flavour. Coconut oak nestles into blackberried fruit, the result intense in a cuddly way. That there is the main appeal, but it's not a one trick pony: smoky, almost woody, tones play along the background, aided by sweet roasted nut characters. Upper echelon without question. Drink to: 2032; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

Mystery Premium Margaret River Chardonnay 2023
This super premium wine was introduced a few years ago and it hasn’t looked back since. I think this is the best of them yet, which is not surprising given the quality of the 2023 vintage. It’s 50% Gingin clone with the remainder clones 95.96 and 76 from their own roots. Pressed straight to oak with full solids and wild fermentation designed to generate the complexity and richness that is establishing a style after just a few vintages. It got 10 months in oak of which 1/3 was new. So it’s not overdone with oak. IT has an engaging minerally savoury character on the nose. The palate is creamy and rich, but the alternative clones bring a fine linear feel. Waxy honeycomb and brioche add complex notes. The finish is long and powerfully sustained. Drink to: 2025-2037; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; Ray Jordan

Mystery Ultra Premium Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021
I was really looking forward to seeing this wine, from a vintage as strong as 2021. It's certainly got the Meshach horsepower and pure cedar-infused, black-fruited grunt that you'd expect from its bloodline. The tannin profile is finer, more compact and less bossy than I expected, the acidity, appley and mineral-laden and there is an impressive length of flavour. Dare I say it is probably a more 'elegant' Meshach in the scheme of things, and it is certainly one that will age for a good while. Drink to: 2053; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 96 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

Mystery Super Premium Coonawarra Shiraz Cabernet 2022
The '22 Eos is matured in 40% new French oak from a mix of coopers. Aromas of boysenberries off the tree, bleeding pomegranate and rhubarb stem, iron-enriched soils, resting meat and wattleseed spice. There is adzuki bean sweetness with a rush of powdery tannins that sweeps you right off your feet. Once you’ve made it back safely to earth you'll ponder just how mysterious and thought provoking a well-handled Aussie cab shiraz blend can be. There is a creaminess like the very highest quality dark chocolate, an interplay of bitterness and luxury that lingers across the palate. Truly a wine of intrigue and beauty. Date: Mar 2025; Drink to: 2036; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $100.00; Rating: 96 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

Mystery  Premium Coonawarra Shiraz 2020
A substantial offering with multi-layered mouthfeel, it's powerfully concentrated with crème de cassis, cigar box, tapenade and violet characters, combined with excellent weight and density, beautifully framed by fine chalky tannins. The wine is opulent and structured at the same time, making it immensely appealing. At its best: 2024 to 2036. Date: Apr 2022; Price: $80.00; Rating: 96 Points; Wine Orbit

Mystery Super Premium Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
This is impressively composed and styled, showing cassis, cigar, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose. The palate offers terrific weight and depth, combined with refined texture and chalky tannins, making it both sturdy and velvety. Wonderfully flavoursome and hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2033. Date: Jan 2024; Rating: 96; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
