The grapes for this wine were sourced from one of the original plantings of Riesling in the Porongurup ranges of Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region. Only the finest, more pristine, “free-run” juice was used in the production of this wine resulting in a palate of outstanding finesse, free from the harsh, phenolic characters and deeper colours associated with grape pressings.
A lightly Golden colour in the glass; The nose has citrus blossom, lime, a touch of jasmine and wet slate; all you could want for in a Riesling. There is a chalky minerality to the wine and a nervy baseline of acidity that is exhilarating, fruit sits on the fresh lime side of the citrus spectrum with an interlude of white flowers and green apple. The quality and impact of this wine is truly impressive for the price. Price: $30.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Drink: 2019 - 2030; Rating: 97 Points; Patrick Eckel; The Wine Reviewer
Perhaps the most delicate of the single vineyard Harewood Rieslings from this release, but it comes at no expense to intensity. Sweet citrus, apple and lemon barley water are the themes on the bouquet, and the palate is an exercise in perfect balance, the fruit flavours finding their way all around the mouth but held in a web of taut acidity. Drink to: 2034; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Dec 2019; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
