Family owned and controlled, Bollinger is dedicated to producing a consistent and distinctive style of Champagne. Bollinger’s wines are predicated by their unique vineyards: rich, assertive and with great power, yet always with finesse.

La Grande Année is the Prestige Cuvée of Champagne Bollinger. It is only produced when exceptional quality harvests occur, and is the expression of Bollinger’s know-how. 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay 13 crus: mainly Aÿ and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir and Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger for the Chardonnay - 95% Grands crus and 5% Premier crus Fermented entirely in barrels. At Bollinger, only very high quality harvests become vintage: 2005 was a temperate and generous year and revealed a champagne with a great aromatic ripeness.

The 2014 La Grande Année is stunning. In fact, it is one of the best recent editions I can remember tasting. What comes through most is the wine's sizzling energy and tension, qualities that aren't often associated with Bollinger, where the Champagnes tend to show more breadth and volume. In 2014, readers will find a Grande Année built on linear intensity and drive. A truly magical Grande Année that will delight Champagne fans for several decades. I can't recommend the 2014 highly enough. It's a total knock-out. Drink: 2024 - 2044; Rating: 98 Points; Antonio Galloni; Vinous

The cool summer of 2014 played this out in intricate detail to magnificent effect, blessing it first with a bright radiance to its medium straw hue and second to a lead of fantastic energy and freshness. The exuberant presence that defines Bollinger rumbles away in great depth through the mid-palate and close, with all the theatrics of mixed spice, fig, dried nectarine and toasted brioche culminating in wonderfully voluptuous texture. A truly great Bollinger by every measure, blessed with incredible longevity, and grand testimony to the wizardry of this house to draw out all the glories of endurance and elegance from a less than simple season. Rating: 97 Points; Tyson Stelzer

Medium-light straw with golden and brassy reflections; superbly complex and mellow to sniff, the nuttiness of barrel contact shows as well as various aldehydes and toasty biscuity characters. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and rich, expansive and very generous in its flavour, the same toasty, nutty and biscuity flavours paramount but also citrus (lemon and orange). The dryness is almost searing: it cries out for food, such as fatty poultry or oily pasta. Tremendous power and very long persistence. A great Champagne! Date Tasted: July 2022; Drink: 2022 to 2029; Price: $250.00; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 98 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review

This classic blend of pinot noir and chardonnay (61/39 per cent) is drawn from 19 crus, the base wine fermented in oak on tirage until disgorged October ’21. Superb wine, with ultimate balance between the robust pinot noir and airy freshness of the chardonnay; great length. Date: Nov 2022; Drink to: 2024; Price: $270.00; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 98 Points & Top 100 Wines for 2022; James Halliday Wine Companion
