Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, who arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836.  The vineyards are situated on the flood plains of the Bremer river. Frank Potts left behind him a wonderful legacy that continues today.  His sons and grandsons have operated and built up the winery, and Bleasdale is solely owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation members of the Potts family.

The Adelaide Hills has become known for its ability to produce outstanding cool climate Chardonnay grapes. Clonal selection and site diversity within the Hills offer complexity and character. Attractive stone fruit and citrus aromas with complexity from maturation on fermentation lees. The palate is fine and long with persistent flavour supported by oak structure and length. Will drink well over the next 5 years.

Clones 76 and Gingin, hand picked directly into a refrigerated container and chilled during transport back to the Bleasdale winery. Whole-bunch pressed direct to French oak puncheons (25% new) for fermentation on full solids including wild mlf; 9 months' maturation. Brilliant quartz-green. All the inputs have been precisely managed, notably the mlf. The bouquet and palate move hand in hand, white peach/nectarine and citrusy acidity running throughout, oak a mere servant. Drink to: 2032; Price: $32.00; Date Tasted: March 2023; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
