Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2015
Made by the guys at Hoddles Creek; the Wickhams Road wines are made with the same philosophy used with Hoddles Creek. They are single vineyard wines with the care and attention that has made Hoddles Creek such a success. The difference with Wickhams Road is that it has been sourced from trusted growers around Victoria. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
Made with the same exacting standards as our own estate grown Chardonnay, this Wickhams Road Chardonnay is forward, lively and balanced. Sourced from Vineyards in Healesville and the Upper Yarra. The Healesville component gives some mid palate weight, whilst the upper Yarra provides finesse and the long acid drive.
A little richer, less angular and rounded than the Gippsland wine, though we're talking fractions here. White peach, almond and spice, a few flicked matches and ripe lemon. Light bodied, tight and tangy, but with a light grip to the powdery texture, a crunchy of citrus flavour and very subtle oak. Has length too. It's not really ready to drink now. Cellar for a year or two and reap the rewards. Rating: 91+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
