This impeccably run Estate crafts a set of wines that ooze style and class. Even better, the quality just keeps getting better and better, reflecting the continual evolution in the vineyard and winery. It was Michel Wright who immaculately built this property into the beacon it has become today. While Voyager's founder and visionary sadly passed away in 2012, he left a powerful legacy of an absolute commitment to quality that today pervades every corner of Voyager. The Estate remains family owned, with Michael’s daughter, Alex Burt (nee Wright), matching her father's fanatical attention to detail with an environmental conscience that has opened another important chapter in the history of this Estate.

A blend of 2 vineyard blocks: Block U12 & Weightmans Block 5. Fourteen months in French oak (39% new). Salted raspberry, licorice and Mariposa plum, the '19 vintage has birthed a wine of restraint and class. Far more layered, fine and spicy than the previous vintage. It needs time to unfurl and flower, which it should have done by the time it is released. Gorgeous, New World cabernet: power without weight. Drink to: 2036; Date Tasted: Dec 2020; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 94 Points; Erin Larkin; James Halliday Wine Companion

A superb array of aromas on show, which are pretty and understated starting with violets, pine needles and cedar with the 12% Merlot in the blend showing itself in the form of mulberry all kept in check by high quality oak. Juicy, vibrant and mid-weight, there is a delightful upfront, supple appeal to the wine which cascades over the palate in waves before it is tightened up by light, al-dente tannins. Fresh acidity give vibrance to a silky, ethereal finish. I am not always a fan of user-friendly Cabernet but this is stunning, if in an earlier drinking style. Rating: 95 Points; Wine Pilot
