The dictionary definition of ‘Riposte’ (pronounced rip-posst) is comeback, reply, retort, or in the context of the sport of fencing a quick counter stroke. After over a decade of confusion about his name ‘Riposte’ was chosen as an appropriate name for a ‘comeback label’ by Tim Knappstein.

Lush dark berry fruit with striking floral edges combine on the nose of the Dagger Pinot Noir to create a fresh yet complex attack on the senses. Lifted rich fruit and spice parry along the palate to a finish of fine-grained tannin and bright acidity. The Dagger has been honed to create a vibrant, rich, earlier drinking wine displaying all of the hallmark aromas flavours and texture of Pinot Noir. Drink young while the edge is keen. The grapes for ‘The Dagger’ are from Charleston and Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills.

A warm and inviting aroma with hints of strawberry jam. The fruit is beautifully ripe and perfumed. Lively, snappy red berry flavours. A very easy drinking light red wine with great flavour intensity. Highly recommended. Alcohol: 13.5%; Ageing: now to 2019; Food: Pork spare ribs with fennel and apple slaw; Score: 92 Points; Toni Patterson MW

Lovely fragrant aromas of cherry and spices, clean and fresh on nose and palate. The wine has depth and structural firmness well above its station. Full body; lovely wine. (An unwooded, early-release style; MV6 and 777 clones, machine-harvested. Lots of whole-bunch fermentation) Great value. Score: 90 Points; Huon Hooke; Real Review

Light, but bright crimson hue; a surprise packet, until the memory of prior vintages clicks in. This has an indecent amount of complex varietal fruits; cherry and plum fruit engage in a duel to establish primacy, the referee coming in with spicy/savoury tannins to give context to the duel - which ultimately remains unresolved. Drink By: 2025; Price: $20.00; Date tasted:09 Sep 2016; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 94 Points; Special Value Star; Top 100 Wines of 2016; James Halliday Wine Companion
