Scorpo produce two Chardonnays, the Aubaine being the lighter of the two. It is deceptively pale in the glass, and exhibits attractive grapefruit and nectarine, delicate minerality, and lees derived complexity on the nose. The palate shows more nectarine fruit, and flaunts a wonderfully slippery texture, as well as acidity that is at once delicate and vibrant with a savoury finish. All in all, a damn smart Chardonnay, especially given the price point. We enjoyed it with fennel and cherry tomato stuffed Rainbow Trout, a very neat match indeed. Angus Davies
