From a 60yo dry-grown vineyard; 250 dozen made. The floral bouquet is thrown into the shade by the sheer power of the palate, with squeaky acidity patrolling the borders, ripe lemon and lime contained within; the intense aftertaste seals the deal. Patience will be repaid many times over. Drink By: 2035; Price: $33.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 96 Points; James Halliday; Wine Companion

Churinga vineyard was originally planted in 1930 with the bulk of the rest of the planting happening in 1954. Kerri Thompson works alongside the current curator of the vineyard, which is now being farmed using biodynamic practices. She gets access to a fair whack of old vine material from the site. It’s a lively, energetic, needle-like thrust of riesling here. Smells like talc, citrus and just ripe green apples. Tangy and tight in the palate with a driving line of blistering acidity, but given drinkability by juiciness surrounding that piercing acid line. So drinkable, pristine in its own way, and should last a long time in cellar. Class act. Alcohol : 12.5%; Price : $33; Closure : Screwcap; Drink : 2015 - 2030+; Rated : 94 Points; Mike Bennie; The Wine Front
