Harewood Estate wines showcase the diverse and spectacular Great Southern region. Based in Denmark, along the coast overlooking the Southern Ocean, the estate vineyards cover two sites off Scotsdale Road north of the town: the original Harewood vineyard and the recently acquired Apricus Hill.

The Great Southern Riesling is a blend of grapes grown in the winery’s recognised riesling growing sub-regions of Western Australia’s Great Southern GI: Mount Barker, Denmark, Porongurup and Frankland River. The wine shows a brilliant, exceptionally pale straw colour with youthful green tinges on release, and exhibits pungent spicy blossom aromas, and hints of stone fruits enhanced by an underlying citrus vibrancy. A seamless palate follows, with initial flavours of passionfruit and lemon barley leading to a richer, spicy mid-palate with hints of pear, and finishing with classic mouth-watering citrus.

The 2022 Great Southern Riesling has a little bit of each of the areas in the glass here, pulling together to make a plump, mouth-filling, floral, succulent, delicious wine. This has blossoming flavor and a brilliant line of acidity that streaks through the fruit. All built for pleasure here. Gorgeous. Drink to: 2022 - 2032; Rating: 94 Points; Erin Larkin; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

They never miss a beat. Lovely lemon aromas here. A hint of lavender among the florals. This is exhibiting a slightly riper, more tropical, fuller style than some of the lean, minerally Rieslings we see, but still has a lovely line of acidity and good focus. Still crisp with some attractive citrus notes, this will drink well over the next six to seven years, longer if aged Riesling is the style that you prefer. You like Riesling? Then Harewood should be on your radar. Drink to: 2022-2029; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett

As always the value here is excellent. A wonderfully precise but impactful Riesling that is the perfect lead into the impeccable single region releases from one of the best producers of the variety in Australia. Aromatics focus on fresh lime with a subtle impact of citrus blossom and talc. There is great energy to the palate with clean lines of citrus fruits that tend from lime to more mandarin like across the journey. The suggestion of cut fresh flowers and tropical tones is a constant contrast and comes into its own to finish, the length is very good. Drink to: 2030; Rating: 93 Points; Patrick Eckel; The Wine Reviewer

Harewood produces a range of several excellent rieslings from the Great Southern region of Western Australia. This is the entry level wine, but it is immediately accessible and great fun to drink. I'd pair this with some-fried flathead, but it would be a brilliant companion to most seafood and poultry dishes. It is delightfully aromatic with some classic lemon/lime citrus flavours allied to hints of pear and peach. There is still a terrific line of acidity, purity and focus with a cheeky crisp finish. One for enjoying now, preferably well chilled. Price: $22.00; Wine of the Week; Winsor Dobbin
