Yarra Valley pioneers, the de Pury family are renowned for wines of finesse and elegance that epitomise the finest the region can produce. Produced from some of the oldest vines in the valley, these are long-lived wines made in tiny quantities. Yeringberg makes wines from the low-yielding vines re-established on the heart of what was one of the most famous vineyards of the nineteenth century.

64% Marsanne and 36% Roussanne. Some skin contact. Old oak for 10 months. White flowers, aniseed and ginger, stone fruit. It’s light, fresh in acidity, but has golden beeswax and cornflakes, and stonefruit flavour, a light but sure grainy/dusty texture, plenty of spice and perfume, and a crisp finish of excellent length and nutty complexity. Really like this. Tasted: Nov 2021; Alcohol: 12.5%; Price: $65; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2022-2031+; Rated: 94 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front

This starts out quite floral with lemon blossom and gardenia. It's restrained on the palate, with a hint of beeswax, pips and just-ripe stone fruit. Some phenolics pull through. It's largely a light refreshing take of these two varieties with an acid drive. A bit more volume wouldn't go astray. A good drink regardless. Drink to: 2032; Price: $65.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2021; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 92 Points; Jane Faulkner; James Halliday Wine Companion
