Yering Station has been core to the Victorian wine story for almost two centuries. Established in 1838 by the pioneering Ryrie brothers, Yering Station was originally a small vineyard and cattle farm. Changing hands between families throughout the centuries that followed, the Rathbone family ultimately purchased the property in 1996 and have since expanded it into a world-class winery and destination.
Matured in 500L French puncheons (18% new) for nine months. A vibrant crimson red. This piqued my interest immediately with its engaging scents of wild strawberries, raspberries, floral notes and a little star anise. The light- to medium-bodied palate is pure fruited and gently plush and there's a good amount of persistent, fine-grained tannins giving the wine structure and longevity.
