From a small block planted in '69, hand-picked, whole berry fermented with plunging twice daily, gravity-filled to two French barriques, one new. Exceptional vivid colour; the calm bouquet is driven by dark fruits, the oak not assertive. The full-bodied palate is a revelation, plush and deep flavours of blackberry and plum on entry, the tannins and oak on the mid to back-palate and supple finish. The magic comes on the aftertaste, where spicy red fruits burst into song. Drink by: 2051; Alcohol: 14.5.0%; Rating: 98 Points; James Halliday; Wine Companion
Deepish red colour with a purple tint. The bouquet is shy but fragrant, with sweet berry aromas and flavours, supple texture and ample soft tannins. It's full-bodied yet approachable, with delicious fruit-sweetness in the centre and overall seductive styling. Drink: 2018 to 2043; Price: $275.00; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
