Xanadu Wines has been producing an exciting range of award-winning, regional wines representing more than 40 years of winemaking tradition. The winery was started by Dr John Lagan, who planted his first vines in 1977 with the help and support of his wife, Eithne. Dr John named the winery after the exotic and mysterious city or place of paradise - Xanadu described in Samuel Coleridge’s famous poem, Kubla Kahn.
Takes on the power, hitting on where others fall by the wayside. The flavours are conventional enough, but their density is in a league of its own. Apple, herbs, citrus and tropical fruits are all there in abundance. Partial barrel ferment is the key to its complexity and texture. Date Tasted: Sept 2021; Price: $25.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 96 Points, Special Value Star & Top 100 Wines for 2021; James Halliday Wine Companion
