Established in 1977 by Irishman Dr John Lagan, the Xanadu vineyards now owned by the Rathbone family continue to flourish in a near-perfect viticultural environment that inspired Dr Lagan; rich free draining gravel soils; an abundant water supply and a unique maritime climate. Winemaker Glenn Goodall mirrors the original vision; to produce premium wines that reflect the true character of the region in synergy with the environment and vineyards.

Fruit was sourced from mature vineyards across the Margaret River region; 50% Wilyabrup, 38% Wallcliffe (predominantly estate grown), with the remainder being small parcels of fruit from the Treeton (8%) and Yallingup (4%) subregions. Cabernet Sauvignon (91%) Petit Verdot (5%) Malbec (4%)

With 5/4% malbec/petit verdot. Fruit from Wilyabrup, Wallcliffe, Treeton and Yallingup. 14 months in oak (40% new). Scintillatingly pure and taut, this is elegant, supple cabernet at its finest. Garden mint and purple fruit dominates; the length of flavour an enduring ripple on a still lake. Brilliant stuff, even more so given the price and its ability to age gracefully. Drink to: 2035; Price: $40.00; Date Tasted: Dec 2020; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; Erin Larkin; James Halliday Wine Companion
