For more than 50 years the Heritage-listed winery of Wynns and its famous Gables have been a feature of Wynns Coonawarra Estate labels. During that time the Gables have become a distinctive mark of exceptional Coonawarra quality. Crafted from small, select parcels of the region’s famous Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, ‘The Gables’ is designed to partner a diverse range of foods and is a versatile addition to any wine list.

Blood plum, currant and anise scents are sheathed in a smooth veneer of detailed, gravelly and yet, impeccably massaged tannins. Together with juicy acidity, these serve as a welcome signpost to the fruit while conferring authority and a welcome savouriness. The finish is long and saline, laying bay leaf and strewn herb across the gums while expanding the flavours across the palate. This is fine, highly refined cabernet with compelling vinosity and sap. Sue Hodder is a cabernet wunderkind with wines firmly stamped with a regional footprint. The journey of Coonawarra is a fascinating one. The Estate that, more than other, can lay claim to putting this famous 'terra rossa' region on the map is the same Estate that again has punters clamouring for, most notably, the Cab Savs emanating from here. It must also be said, in the form of Black Label and Gables, they are infinitely affordable. The Gables doesn't just hint at emanating from the region, it screams it from the rooftops. Cassis, licorice, dark berry and leafy hints. The fruit is generous, the balance impeccable. An exceptional example of all that is loved about Coonawarra and at a relative snip.
