What began as a yearly diversion for label designer Aaron Woods and marketer Nicholas Crampton has grown into almost a full time obsession, with a range of wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley spanning five varieties and numerous styles. The ambition of Woods Crampton is to create unforced wines that showcase the quality of their fruit and tell the story of their vineyards. Minimal intervention winemaking follows to create elegant and expressive wines.
Pedro was inspired by the light and bright “lunchtime” wines found in bistro’s throughout the Rhone Valley. Surprisingly dark in colour with the wild expression only no sulphur wines can give – all red fruits, lifted forest undergrowth and exotic spice. The palate is again surprisingly rich and full with vibrant naturally sweet flavours exploding in the mouth before being reigned in by whole bunch grip and fresh acidity. Drinking brilliantly now or for the next couple of years.
