Made by the guys at Hoddles Creek; the Wickhams Road wines are made with the same philosophy used with Hoddles Creek. They are single vineyard wines with the care and attention that has made Hoddles Creek such a success. The difference with Wickhams Road is that it has been sourced from trusted growers around Victoria. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
Fruit from Gippsland but made in exactly the same manner as the Estate range, this Chardonnay has a purity of fruit and beautiful line of acid. We have managed our Gippsland vineyard since 2011, with a emphasis on balanced vines. The Gippsland climate is similar to Hoddles Creek, hence the juice requires no acidification or fining.
White peach, lime, almond, a wee bit of cedar. It’s light but flavoursome, juicy white fruit and ripe lime, cool fine acidity, texture is a little chalky, and the finish is bright and fresh, though ever so slightly drying, though that’s a minor quibble. Stylish wine. Easy to enjoy. Tasted: Jul 2021; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $19; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2021-2023+; Rated: 91 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
