Tua Rita is the Italian equivalent of the garagiste wines of Bordeaux, small at only 35 hectares of vines and consistently releasing some of Italy's finest red wines. Owned by Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio Bisti, the estate is located in Suvereto in Northern Maremma and then thanks to some stelar reviews in the wine press, Tua Rita has gone from a relatively unknown to a world-famous producer. Their flagship wine, a 100% Merlot, the Redigaff IGT Toscana stands effortlessly on the world stage and other wines in their quiver such as the Guisto di Notri IGT Toscana, Syrah OGT Toscana and Rosso di Notri IGT Toscana share a similar pedigree.
The 2002 Perlato di Bosco, now with 10% of Syrah to supplement the Sangiovese, a brilliant ruby, offers a peppery red currant and blackberry nose, full and satiny flavors, and superb sweetness and ripeness from start to finish. The wine will easily last another decade, but it is already irresistible – the pleasure level is off the charts.
