Tenuta San Guido is owned by the Incisa della Rocchetta family and located in Bolgheri. The estate is home to the world-class wine that started the Super Tuscan movement - Sassicaia. Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the land below the castle at Castilioncello in 1940, initially a personal affair the wine was consumed by the family, but the vineyard was expanded in 1965 and the first Sassacaia was released in 1968 to international acclaim. Today the estate has around 75 hectares of vines scattered around Bolgheri and their flagship wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc continues to impressive critics and wine-lovers.
Very aromatic and bright with strawberry, cherry and currant character. Hints of oranges. Full-bodied, linear and tight, showing ultra-fine tannins. Potential here. Rating: 93 Points; James Suckling
Enticing aromas of black-skinned berry, iris and cedar. The savory, balanced palate delivers red currant, dried black cherry, star anise and white pepper alongside finegrained tannins. Drink through 2023. Rating: 91 Points; Wine Enthusiast
Shows a more evident touch of ripe fruit that you don't perceive in the Guidalberto. Dark cherry and cherry is followed by wild strawberry and tangy rose hip. This wine happily delivers on its promises of freshness and accessibility. Rating: 90 Points; Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A fresh, vibrant version, offering cherry, strawberry, spice and mineral flavors. Youthful, with assertive tannins, so decant or age short term. Rating: 90 Points; Wine Spectator
