Hoddles Creek Estate was established in 1997 when the D'Anna family decided to establish a vineyard on the property that has been in the family since 1960. The vineyard sits astride Gembrook road and adjacent Hoddles Creek. Its steeply sloping blocks prohibit mechanical harvesting, with both vineyards being hand pruned and harvested. All wines are single vineyard and estate grown.

The StarDozen consists of the following:

3 bottles        Hoddles Creek Pinot Noir 2018
3 bottles        Hoddles Creek Chardonnay 2018
3 bottles        Wickhams Road Gippsland Pinot Noir 2019
3 bottles        Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2017

Hoddles Creek Pinot Noir 2018
When you have a vineyard site as good as Hoddles Creek Estate, and lavish care on it as well as ever, the result is preordained. This is an elegant, spice-infused wine with tannins providing the boundary fence, fruit filling the centre. The length and balance can't be faulted. Drink to: 2030; Price: $25.00; Date Tasted: September 2019; Alcohol: 13.2%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star & Top 100 Wines; James Halliday Wine Companion

Hoddles Creek Chardonnay 2018
This has the typical energy, finesse and drive that makes Hoddles Creek have a ‘must buy' tag year in, year out. It has all the power needed to cruise through the next 10 years, with grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and stone fruit decorated with a necklace of bracing acidity. Drink to: 2028; Price: $22.00; Date Tasted: September 2019; Alcohol: 13.2%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star & Top 100 Wines; James Halliday Wine Companion

Wickhams Road Gippsland Pinot Noir 2019
Cherry, spiced biscuits, floral perfume allied with cranberry freshness, fine grained powdery tannin, a bit of sap and dried herb, a succulence and smoothness, but very fine and full of Pinot charm, not least for a wine at this price point. So lovely. Gippsland is a knock out in 2019. Tasted: Nov 19; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $19; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2020-2026+; Rated: 92 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front

Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2017
There was no way winemaker Franco D'Anna was going to miss anything that was offer from the vintage. This has an immaculate display of grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and white peach. The oak contribution is minimal, but there, and the length and balance are the only possible outcome. Drink to: 2027; Price: $18.00; Date Tasted: Sept 2018; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 94 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
