Located in the heart of Australia’s iconic Barossa wine region, St Hallett has been producing fine wines since it was established in 1944. All the fruit used in St Hallett wine is grown in the Barossa. It is their dedication to keeping parcels separate through fermentation and maturation - combined with the Barossa’s rich and diverse range of vines and soils - that allows them to craft an exciting range of full flavoured and interestingly textured wines which are savoured around the world and recognised as benchmarks of the region.

Avant garde winemaking in 3-tonne fermenters using partial whole bunch carbonic maceration in various ways. It is as expressive as it is elegant, with a pinot-ish display of red fruits and spices on its long and silky palate, freshness and balance its watch words. New French oak less than 20% sits perfectly with its modest alcohol. Drink to: 2030; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday; James Halliday Wine Companion

They are remarkably different, but it is the St Hallett 2015 Mattschoss Single Vineyard Eden Valley Shiraz that stands out with its beautiful fragrance, its incredibly intense and concentrated fruit power, though without heavy density or weight, and its length of flavour that just hangs on and on and on with a fine minerally tannin finish. It’s simply superb. The judges at the recent Royal Sydney Wine Show also thought so. Tony Love; Taste

A full-bodied and elegantly structured wine, this is a very complex iteration of Barossa shiraz, showing smoky, spicy, savouriness and crushed-rock mineral overtones. It has a slightly austere dryness and a well-balanced backbone of fine tannins. Stylish stuff. Drink: Now to 2033; Price: $60.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
