The Agricultural Company Giovanni Sordo is in the heart of the well-known Barolo region, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto - just a few kilometers away from Alba, in the province of Cuneo. It is a family run winery, now in the hands of Giorgio - Giovanni's son - the third generation of a family who has been tending and producing wines for more than a century. The estate was founded in 1912 by the great-father Joseph, but the real turnover came with His son John who - together with His Wife Mary, the real witness of the family's story - bought several vineyards of Nebbiolo for Barolo - the Sorì in Piedmontese language - among the best in the Barolo wine district.
This charming vineyard is to be found in a lovely natural amphitheater on the hill sloping down from Castiglione Falletto to the road to Alba. The vineyard is best known as the Sorito della Sera because of its excellent exposure with many hours of sun-facing which allows the grapes to reach a perfect maturation.
The colour is a magnificent garnet red; its intensity and great alcohol content create dense tears on the side of the glass.
Perfumes are ethereal, abundant and lingering. The sensations remind mint, sage and sweet spices. In the mouth it reveals great elegance; the balance is given by its warmness together with its unique complexity. Tannins are evident but smooth, while the acidity and the flavours are well-balanced – for these reason the Parussi is suitable for long aging. Unforgettable sensations and memories are the gift which the Parussi gives to the Barolo lovers.
From Castiglione Falletto. Softly chocolaty, rose petals, fresh earth and dried herb aromas. The wine is full and rich, more rounded and supple of texture - although there is still a mass of tannin. Voluminous flavour, rich and generous; cranberry elements. This is a slightly easier style at this early age, and is usually the most popular at public tastings.
