Sorby Adams Wines is a family brand - Anna Louisa Sorby married Augustus Crichton Adams in the early 1800’s in Hertfordshire and has been a family name ever since.
The low-yielding, 30 year old Riesling vines are planted on the lean, rocky yellow podzolic soils common to the region. The cool climate perfectly accentuates the classic Riesling aromas and flavours that have made the Eden Valley world famous.
Pristine and youthfully elegant with green apple, lemon/lime peel and floral nuances, it’s brilliantly focused and linear offering terrific fruit purity and poise. Superbly structured by vibrant acidity, finishing refined and impressively lingering. Price: $35.00; Drink: 2024 to 2036; Rating: 95 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
After the diabolical difficulties of 2020, winemakers licked their lips when the fruit from the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley started to cross the weigh bridge, especially for Riesling. And this is a wonderful example of the quality of Riesling coming from the high altitudes of Eden Valley in 2021. The aromas are distinctly lemon zest and a touch of grapefruit edginess. The palate is crisp and keen with a lingering lemon acidity. This is thoroughly delicious now but will go on for many years in the cellar.
